Welcome Post

Hello and welcome to my blog.  As you can see, I'm just getting started, but I didn't want anyone who stumbled into the site to find a totally blank page.  As is apparent from the title, this is going to be yet another series about modeling a prototype railroad.  I've been studying the Camas Prairie Railroad (CSP) for much of my life and have been modeling it in fits and starts for about 20 years.  If you're interested in my past work and have some old Railroad Model Craftsman magazines laying around your house, you can find an article that I wrote about my previous HO-scale layout in the January 2015 issue of that magazine.  I have not, unfortunately, made a tremendous amount of progress on my new layout since then.  Life has intervened and has distracted me.  I'm hoping that writing about my railroad will help me to regain some focus.

"So what sort of model railroader are you?" you ask.  Well, I fall into the realm of prototype modelers; although I'm not as strict as some.  As I mentioned above, I model in HO-scale.  My layout room is about 20 feet square, and I'm using pretty much all for my version of  the CSP.  It's going to be a substantial but not huge layout.  I'm interested in operating model trains prototypically; however I live in a fairly rural area with a low population density, so I'll likely nor have a big crew.  I prefer small groups anyway, and since I'm modeling a branch line railroad, that's okay.

I will provide a little background about the CSP in future posts, but if you have an interest in the railroad or want to learn more about it, check out our discussion group on Groups IO at https://groups.io/g/csprailroad, or Matt Sugerman's "Idaho's Panhandle Railroad" blog at http://idahospanhandlerailroad.blogspot.com/.  Matt has provided some nice background info on the CSP, and he also has a Facebook group with the same name.  Speaking of Facebook, you can also find a group called "Camas Prairie Railroad" there as well.
